Monkey Goes Bananas

Monkey Goes Bananas

Created by Eva Garrett

Game Introduction

Genre
The genre of my game is adventure and time limiting.
GamePlay
The objective of this game is to feed the monkeys insatiable hunger, in order to keep his energy levels up and to keep the monkey alive. The player will be required to collect bananas which are scattered around the forest in which the monkey lives in. There will be a bar at the top of the screen which represents the monkeys energy level. Each time you collect a banana the monkey energy will rise, if you go a long time the energy level will decrease, and the monkey will die once the energy bar is empty.
Target audience & platforms
The target audience of my game will be children as it is quite a simplistic game and it will be easy to navigate. The game will not be very technical or there will be no violence so it will be appropriate for a younger audience.
Look and Feel
I want my game to have quite a cartoon feel to it, as it doesn't have a very realistic storyline. By making the game look more cartoon this will also make the game more appealing to my target audience.
Perspective
The game will be in the first person perspective.

Story

My game will be called Monkey Goes Bananas' and it will be based on a hungry monkey that is going around the forest trying to collect bananas.

Plot

Monkey loses his mind
The intro to my game will be a short animation of the main character (the monkey), getting hit on the head with a rock.
Monkey wakes up
This the start of the game where the monkey comes back to his senses, and he has woken up with an insatiable hunger for bananas.
Monkey goes bananas
The monkey now goes crazy as he has an uncontrollable hunger, he runs around all over the forest trying to collect and eat as many bananas as he can find.

Environment

Time of Day
This game will be set in the afternoon, so there will be full daylight.
The Forest
This game starts with the monkey lying on the floor as he has just woken up. When the monkey wakes up the first thing he sees are hundreds of banana trees, this is the beginning of his huge craving for bananas. The forest is full of bright green and yellow colours. There is pathways leading In all different directions. Will you chose the right one to lead you to banana trees?

How to Play

There is a monkey in a forest who is very hungry, running around the forest looking for all the bananas he can find to try fill his hunger. Game Architecture

Characters

There is only one character in this game, which is the hungry monkey.

The Hungry Monkey

This is who the player will be. The perspective of the game will be first person, so you will only see the monkey in the short animation at the start of the game.

Appearance
The monkey will be a chimp so he will have short brown hair, long arms, and short legs with big feet.
Abilities
The monkey can walk, jump, run and eat.
Voice
The monkey will randomly scream out monkey noises throughout the game, to show how hungry he is.

Level Design

There will only be one level in this game as when you die you will have to start again and try and beat your previous score.

Audio & Sound F/x

There will be a background noise that will represent wind blowing through the forest to set the ambience. There will be footprint noises that will represent each step that the monkey takes as he walks and runs through the forest. When the player collects a banana there will be a celebration noise. A noise will also go off when the monkey runs out of energy to let the player know that the game is over.

Heads Up Display (HUD)

There will be a bar at the top of the screen which will represent how much energy the monkey has, the bar will also be on a timer so it decreases with time if there are no bananas collected.

There will also be a score system at the top of the screen, this will determine how long the monkey has been kept alive, this is the score that the player will try to beat every time they play the game.
