Games GDD (House666)

Games GDD (House666)

Created by Nathan Speight

Game Introduction

Genre
Horror / Scary Game.
GamePlay
The game will start with the player in a small room with a locked door, the first objective is to make it out of that room, the player will have to look around the room and try find the key to escape. When escaped from that room the player can explore the hallway upstairs and even go downstairs but the front door is locked with no way out. There is a bedroom upstairs in which the door is locked and the player will need to find the key to enter that room, this key could be located anywhere upstairs or downstairs so the player will have to find the key, from that room there will be a key to escape the house in there somewhere and it will be difficult to find. All this sounds rather easy but there will be things around to scare the player to make them waste their time, also of course as I said there’s a timer and all of this has to be done in a certain amount of time. Basically you escape in time you win if you don’t you lose, there is no checkpoints so if you lose you go back to the start. The thing that makes this game exciting and scary is that the player doesn’t know what’s around any corner and doesn’t know if they can be killed by a monster or ghost, this leaves the player always feeling uncertain of what’s next.
Target audience & platforms
Windows / Mac Users. Somebody looking for a scary game. Somebody looking for a non competitive short game.
Look and Feel
The game is designed to look and feel scary and as if it was set in the 1960s.

Game Name

House 666.

Story

There was a journalist in the year 1967 who wanted to have a look at the house for himself and get a write up about it. He didn’t believe that the house was haunted, so he wanted to go himself and take a look at it, of course him not believing it was haunted was going to change. When he first came on the grounds of the house he seen the name by the main gate “house666” which did worry him a bit but he didn’t let it stop him from entering. When he entered through the unlocked front door he got a vibe which he never felt before but he thought he was just paranoid, he continued on as he was determined to examine the house when he was looking around he found some weird looking notes laying around and some old creepy pictures on the wall. When he made it upstairs he seen what looked like red paint on the walls and this was when his fear really started to kick in. He wanted to leave but something didn’t allow him. He entered a room and when he entered he blacked out. When he wakes up the door in the room is locked, all he has is his flash light, everything else he had on him is gone. From this point is were the player will play from and try escape “house666”.

Artwork (design)

The game is based in a dark rather small house, the game will start in a dark room with not much light the only thing in the room will be a desk, behind the desk is where the first key will be located. Outside of that room on the right hand side there will be nothing but a wall, to the left there will be a small hallway with 3 doors straight up, stairs on the left and on the right there will be a door that is always locked. The 3 doors straight ahead are 3 bedrooms 2 of them are unlocked but the one in the middle is locked. The 2 bedrooms that are unlocked will only have furniture inside them and nothing else. To access the room that is locked the player will be required to go downstairs. When the player goes downstairs the door they will exit the house through will be right there but it will be locked. From the door the stairs will be on the right hand side and there will be a long hall going straight leading into the kitchen, on the left hand side around half way down that hall is were the sitting room door will be the player can enter this room but there will nothing but furniture in this room. This will leave the player with no other place to go but the kitchen, in the kitchen there will be a ghost standing in the centre of it and there will be a key hid under one of the chairs. This key will give the player access to the locked room upstairs. Within that room there will be a bed, some other furniture and there will also be a ghost standing in that room. The final key will be hid underneath the bed and this key will be the key that gives the player access to leave the house.

Technical Requirements

There will be no crazy detail or graphics but everything will look nice and dark with minimum light which will give the game that scary feel.

Artwork Assets I will be using: Asset 1, Asset 2, Asset 3, Asset 4

Heads Up Display (HUD)

There will be a timer but it will not be on display as it makes the game more difficult for the player (The player will start with 4 minutes). There will not be a display to show how many keys need to be collected as the player will have to figure out what to in the time space which makes it difficult to escape.

How to add timer: Link
