Game Introduction

My game is a simple but fun racing game  .It will be made up of a fast paced racing game , with a fun creative track which will consist of some challenging obstacles and coin trails, the player will be trying to get around the track as fast as possible. My game is taking inspiration from many popular racing games such as Mario kart, Need for speed and art of rally.

Fellow classmates and any other age groups. Will be made primarily for PC and laptop use
Look and Feel
3D low poly game , with colorful and stylized environments. Taking inspiration from the likes of Art Of Rally, Mini Word Racing and Need for Speed the game will be a aesthetically pleasing game , which creates a enjoyable playing environment for the player , The game will be a custom made map which resembles a world , having trees , roads , hills , sunlight and so on . I think getting lighting will be the must crucial thing in terms of aesthetics , so the game will be constantly changing to simulate a real world.

Story

Its your final race , every thing is riding on this one race, years of training and failures. If you win you became world champion , but if not you will lose everything. This race is like no other , its the first of its kind, its the future of racing. There is no rules again , so its extremely dangerous , 80% chance of death due to all the obstacles on the track. It is said only crazy people even consider racing , but you , you want to make a name for yourself, like all of your racing idols growing up. But unlike other racers you have even more motivation because your family is being held by the mafia , you used to work from them but escaped that life and followed your dreams of becoming a racer , but the mafia want payment for this, the prize money is the only way your get the 1 million they want , and the only way to get your family's back. So the clock is ticking, make every second count, its your last race so make it spectacular.

How to Play

The game will be fairly easy to play and understand. The player will have the controls of going left, right, forward , backwards and the will be able to control the speed of the car . The main aim of the game is to get around the track with the fastest time as possible which is a simple yet fun little challenge as the track will be a fun and challenging part of the game , having obstacles in the way and in some parts given the player the choice of what track they want to use. On the jump sections players will have the controls to balance the cars , similar to trials fusions. So yes, the main aim of the game is to race against the clock , to set a new fastest time against yourself.

Artwork (design)

The game world design will be made in blender so will have a arcade type of design , no 4K amazing graphics but more of a fun , simple design.

Technical Requirements

The artwork in the game , considering it will be a 3d low poly game it will be made in blender by myself , so since i will be making it myself it may be a bit limited since i don't have a lot of experience in blender. 

Heads Up Display (HUD)

There will be a HUD display in my game and it will be quite important as it was have information such as a timer/clock so players know what time they are going to get, and know if they need to go faster.

On the HUD there will also be a car speedometer to know how fast they are going which is a crucial part of the game .


Level Design

There will only be 1 level in this game , since it is a racing game you will simply be compteing against yourself, each time you race you are trying to beat your previous time so therefore there is no particular levels.

Global Elements

The games boundaries will be two rail tracks either side of the road, the world itself will be a small scale environment with trees, bushes', hills sunlight, it will replicate a real world environment. I might if possible and time allowing add in a litlle crowd a some sections to give it more of a race feeling.

Player View

The camera will be a follow the player camera type, i have yet to decide whether it will follow the player from behind or from the the top. Each gives it a different perspective , many big rated racing games go with the follow from behind option such as Need for Speed or Forza Horizon so its something i defiantly know works well in a racing game.

Audio & Sound F/x

The audio used will be copyright free, it will be upbeat cheerful music to match the style of the game , Since the game is also fast past the music will also be fast paced so that it will add to the feeling and dramatics of the game.

Player Elements

The player, considering they are the ones driving the car there will be many sounds they can hear such as engine noise, rev noise, exhaust noise, tyre noise and the sounds of wind since thats what you hear when u go fast in a car. I want the player to feel like there are actually racing the car in real life, so sound deign is important.

Global Elements

Since the track is based in a world environment you will be able to hear things such as birds, the wind, rivers if there is any, leaves rustling and so on , along with the music, car sounds and ambient sounds, if i do add in a crowd there will be cheering sounds to go along with the croedn

Technical

The engines that will be used in terms of making the game will be Unity 3D and blender, in terms of what platforms it will be on , it will be only pc as it will be hosted on the website itch.io more then likely when finished 

User Interface (controls)

The player will be in full control of the car , so having a good keyboard layout is crucial. I think the layout of having the arrow keys for forward, backwards, left and right is the most playable layout as all keys are in the one place and is comfortable on the hand, instead of having them all over the place on the letters of the keyboard.
