- The game will be a Survival-Horror.
- Target audience & platforms
- The game will be aimed towards those interested in a atmospheric and explorative type horror game. The game will only be able for PC.
- Look and Feel
- The game will have a Low-Polygonal type look in a similar to the graphics of the original PlayStation 1 graphics. The game will go for modern day controls as opposed to the tank controls of horror games during that era of gaming.
Title
The title of the game will be Rigid, in relation to the rigid movement of the mannequins that chase you.
Story
Set in rural Maine, America, you play as George Hayakawa, a man locked within his towns shopping mall afterhours. He must look throughout the mall to try and find either someone to let him out or an open exit. As he explores he eventually begins to be chased by mannequins, he must avoid capture while trying to escape the mall.
How to Play
Game has basic movement controls for navigating the area, such as forwards, backwards, etc. Can pick up specific items which are used to progress. E button will be used to interact with items and doors. Shift will make the player enter a sprint which will last only a few seconds before needing to recharge. Left Mouse Button will be used for attacking.
Graphics
The games graphics will be inspired by Low-Polygon PS1 graphics, in the same vane as the original Silent Hill and Resident Evil.
Text Boxes
The game will include text boxes as to avoid gathering voices for the characters, they will also be used to describe interactions in gameplay such as if a door is locked.
Character 1 - George Hayakawa
George Hayakawa is an Asian American, born and raised in this rural town in Maine. George is currently in college, with an athletic scholarship for track, and works in the mall part-time. After locking up the store he goes to leave the mall but finds out it's locked. George is an adept problem solver. He recently twisted his ankle while at track practice so he can't run quite as fast or as long as he usually can.
Mannequins
Mannequins will be the only enemy for the game. They will rigidly chase after the player. The player will be alerted to their presence in the area by the sound of stiff and creaky steps.
Level Design
The game will entirely take place within a shopping mall. The player will have to wander the bottom floor, a select few stores, bathroom, and security room, with some areas being locked off until an item to open them is found. The biggest area will be the bottom floor with all the other areas being small in size.
Player View
The player will play in the 3rd person, with fixed camera angles, allowing them to only see a select part of the area they are in.
Map
The map will be very small with only a view areas to explore which will require loading screens between them.
Sound Effects
The sounds I'll need will be the sound of someone running, door unlocking, rigid steps, creaks, gunshot and glass shattering.
Game Engine
The game will be entirely made in Unity, along with using some assets from the Unity store to help create the environment and models.
